Zusammenfassung: | Due to changes in the current health care environment, clinical microbiologists are increasingly called on to optimize their services and to interact optimally with various other staff in the hospital. This article focuses on (i) improving the performance of microbiology laboratories by the use of control charts in process control and (ii) improving interaction between clinical microbiologists and infection control staff. Also included are updates on what is occurring in legislation in areas where clinical microbiologists and practitioners of infection control interact. |
