Zusammenfassung: | Mandible plays a pivotal role for both function (mastication, swallowing, and phonation) and aesthetic. Traumas, osteomyelitis, osteoradionecrosis, and benign or malignant neoplasm can cause mandibular defect. Several techniques have been proposed for mandibular reconstruction along the past decades. In this article, we present and discuss a new modified method for accurate mandibular reconstruction. This method is mainly indicated in patients with benign mandibular tumors, where the resection margins can be more often anticipated prior to surgery. However, it is less useful for patients with malignant mandibular tumors, in whom resection margins are often finalized intraoperatively. |
