An investigation of gill nets selectivity used in Capoeta capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) and Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) (Siraz fish) fishery in Keban Dam Lake

| Zusammenfassung: | In this study, the selectivity of gillnets for fishing Capoeta capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) and Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) were investigated. Sampling took place at 7 stations in Dam Lake of Keban (Turkey) in 1996 and 1997. Samples were collected with gillnets of mesh size of 22-28-36 and 44 mm. The common selection factor and common standard deviation were estimated as 8.52 and 2.37 for C. c. umbla, 8.40 and 2.46 for C. trutta. The optimum catch lengths of C. c. umbla and C. trutta in 22-28-36 and 44 mm mesh size were 18.74 cm, 23.85 cm, 30.67 cm, 37.48 cm and 18.48 cm, 23.52 cm, 30.24 cm, 36.96 cm, respectively. |
