The identification of infected individuals coupled with their effective treatment is a key factor in controlling the transmission of Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Effective treatment of this requires knowledge of the prevalence of gonococcal susceptibility to recommend antimicrobials. A surveillance programs was established in many countries, the antimicrobial susceptibility (AMS), the determination of this program requires culturing of N. Gonorrhoeae from clinical specimen.
