Zusammenfassung: | The polychaete Pherusa tumbensis is recorded from a new locality, and new taxonomic data are presented for this species. Specimens were collected in the intertidal zone of Punta Gruesa, Iquique (20 degree 22'S) and compared with specimens from the type locality. The presence of P. tumbensis in northern Chile represents the first documented record following its original description, extending its' geographical range from 36 degree 40'S to 20 degree 22'S. Present observations showed P. tumbensis as bearing an anterior pair of grooved palps, and more than 50 pairs of irregularly distributed filiform branchiae; this was important data which had not been included in the original description of the species. A taxonomic key is presented to recognize the four species of Pherusa recorded from the coast of Chile. |
