Zusammenfassung: | Tests were carried out to assess the annual productivity of Spirulina (Arthrospira). These tests also sought to determine the ability of this organism to remove nutrients in outdoor raceways used for the treatment of anaerobic effluents from pig wastewater under conditions typical of tropical regions. Data used for the analysis were obtained from a pilot-scale plant at La Mancha beach (Veracruz, Mexico). Researchers established batch or semi-continuous cultures at different seasons during a four-year period. Data are reported detailing observed values for the protein content of the harvested biomass, and the N and P removal performance of the ponds. Samples of a straight filament strain of Spirulina were adapted to grow in the medium used for the experiments. |
