Connecting a School of Nursing and a Professional Nurse Organization to Promote Concussion Awareness

According to the American Academy of Neurology, concussion is defined as “a traumatically induced alteration in mental status that may or may not be accompanied by a loss of consciousness whose hallmark is confusion.”[...]in a group setting, the nursing students assisted with a debriefing session including concepts of responsibility, precautions, and how to rest a brain.[...]of this community outreach to elementary and middle school-aged students, the nursing students’ knowledge, expertise, and presentation techniques improved.
