Relationship Between Jump-Landing Motion Patterns And Ground Reaction Forces

Zusammenfassung: | Context: Inefficient movement patterns, high peak vertical ground reaction forces (PVGRF), and high posterior ground reaction forces (PPGRF) may increase risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Objective: To evaluate the relationship of ground reaction force measures (PVGRF and PPGRF) to a clinical videography assessment tool of jump-landing (Landing Error Scoring System: LESS). Conclusions: Significant correlations of poor to moderate strength were found between LESS scores and PPGRF and PVGRF, respectively. Future studies need to be conducted investigating pre-season screening examinations to evaluate the association between clinically observed jump-landing motion patterns and ground reaction forces with ACL injury risk.
