Structure of MC5R (Hsp92I) gene in pigs

MC5R gene was suggested as a candidate gene for fat content in pig meat. This study aimed at determining the genetic variation in the porcine MC5R (Hsp92I) gene by PCR-RFLP method. The polymorphism of MC5R (Hsp92I) gene was studied in a group of 22 gilts. Genotype AG was most frequent (0.652), while...

Zusammenfassung:MC5R gene was suggested as a candidate gene for fat content in pig meat. This study aimed at determining the genetic variation in the porcine MC5R (Hsp92I) gene by PCR-RFLP method. The polymorphism of MC5R (Hsp92I) gene was studied in a group of 22 gilts. Genotype AG was most frequent (0.652), while GG was not identified at all. The frequencies of allele A and G were 0.674 and 0,326, respectively.
