Zusammenfassung: | In a recent field experiment on the Isle of Arran, Scotland, measurements of surface pressure and near‐surface wind fields were made along a roughly west–east transect on the hill Tighvein. A principal components analysis of these measurements has been made to determine any significant atmospheric modes of variability, and this (objective) method successfully identifies several physically meaningful flows.
