Faux Goya, vrais Cantarini
Two paintings erroneously attributed to Francisco Goya (1746-1828) are identified as the work of Simone Cantarini (1612-1648). Reasons for the conclusion are explained, including the choice of wood as a support, preparatory drawings, iconography, and provenance.
