Associations between women's perceptions of domestic violence and contraceptive use in seven countries in West and Central Africa

Highlights • We examined women’s tolerance of domestic violence (DV) and contraceptive use in seven countries. • Six in ten women approved of domestic violence, with most having low tolerance. • Less than 20% of women used any contraceptive method. • Modern method use was more prevalent than traditional method use. • DV tolerance was associated with reduced odds of traditional or modern contraceptive use.
