Zusammenfassung:Specimens of the Orange Goatfish, Mulloidichthys pflugeri, were collected from off Amami-oshima and Yonaguni-jima islands in the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. Previously M. pflugeri has been recorded in Japanese waters only from Okinawa-jima island and the Ogasawara Islands. Therefore, the present specimens are the first distributional records from each of Amami-oshima and Yonaguni-jima islands. Additionally, the specimen collected from Amami-oshima island represents the northernmost record of the species.
