Zusammenfassung: | The subject of the painter in 15th-century London is one that has not been deeply studied and "much of the early history of the painting trade in London remains obscure." Almost 70 years ago, John H. Harvey published the names and activities of several painters working in London during the 14th and 15th centuries, and not long after E. W. Tristram compiled a list of painters who worked in various parts of England during the 14th century. This article supplements these labors by documenting the names of over 90 London painters who worked within the years 1376 to 1509. [Abridged Publication Abstract] |
