Zusammenfassung: | Obesity is associated with an increased risk of cancer development in the upper gastrointestinal tract. We present the case of a female patient with gastric carcinoma after sleeve gastrectomy.
Before bariatric surgery, one rationale for performing routine endoscopy is to detect clinically relevant conditions with the potential to change the surgical procedure. After bariatric surgery in symptomatic patients and in patients with unspecific symptoms, early upper endoscopy should be performed to detect potential carcinomas of the upper gastrointestinal tract. |
