The Invisible Pyramid

It has not been too many years since man first began to challenge the relatively comfortable biblical arithmetic of James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh, who fixed the date of Creation in the year 4004 B.C. Since the time of that first challenge, a grinning simian face, emerging like Alice's Cheshire cat from the shadowy recesses of man's family tree, has inspired in us alternating stirrings of exaltation and dread.
