Highlights • Total ankle replacement literature talks about a learning curve without describing a numeric cut-off We didn’t compare two samples like previous literature, but we performed a statistical analysis of the whole sample in order to assess a numeric cut-off. • Most of total ankle replacement literature is written by designers, this is not a designer surgeon study. • The principle investigator is a foot-and-ankle-fellowship trained surgeon at his first experience in total ankle replacement.
