Zusammenfassung: | We have investigated the association between mtDNA variation and cytoplasmic incompatibility by undertaking a survey of mtDNA variation in Drosophila simulans isofemale lines from the following populations from California: (1) Davis, which has the W incompatibility type, (2) Riverside, which has predominantly the R type, and (3) Lake Cachuma and Piru, where both incompatibility types occur at intermediate frequencies. In addition, we examined some lines from other locations to see if there is an association between incompatibility type and mtDNA variation on a broader scale. |
