A key α-bromoalkanone intermediate 3b has been reported for the first time. Various sulfoximine tethered imidazoles, imidazopyridines, thiozoloimidazoles, imidazobenzothiazines, thiazoles and selenazoles are made from this common sulfoximine building block.
