La supermercato di Palazzo Te

The historical center of Mantova has been recently recognized as belonging to the Unesco World heritage List. As a consequence, the urban core of the city and the area of Palazzo Te are worthy to be protected and managed according to specific rules. In 2012 information about the possible building of a supermarket in an area near to the historical park of Palazzo Te was broadcast by local newspapers, drawing the worried attention of Ministero per i beni culturali. The local debate about this project is actually open between who contrasts this supermarket (Italia Nostra, Associazione Civica Mantovana and local members of left wing parties like PD and SEL) and who consider this initiative an occasion of development and creation of job opportunities.
