Enhancing the Cytotoxic Activity of Anticancer Pt super(IV) Complexes by Introduction of Lonidamine as an Axial Ligand

The synthesis and in vitro cytotoxicity of a series of Pt super(IV) complexes with lonidamine as a ligand coordinated in axial position are described. Lonidamine was found to affect strongly the in vitro cytotoxic activity of these new complexes, lowering the IC sub(50) values down to the nanomolar...

Zusammenfassung:The synthesis and in vitro cytotoxicity of a series of Pt super(IV) complexes with lonidamine as a ligand coordinated in axial position are described. Lonidamine was found to affect strongly the in vitro cytotoxic activity of these new complexes, lowering the IC sub(50) values down to the nanomolar range. Lipophilicity assessed in terms of logP showed no direct correlation with cytotoxicity. A series of Pt super(IV) complexes with lonidamine as a ligand coordinated in axial position is reported. Lonidamine affects strongly the in vitro cytotoxic activity, lowering the IC sub(50) values down to the nanomolar range.
