Zusammenfassung:To the Editor: The Therapeutic Hypothermia after Pediatric Cardiac Arrest trial in the in-hospital setting (THAPCA-IH) reported by Moler et al. (Jan. 26 issue) 1 shows no significant difference between therapeutic hypothermia and therapeutic normothermia with respect to survival among children after in-hospital cardiac arrest. However, the percentages of patients in the two groups who underwent cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for a long period of time were not reported. Another study by Fink et al. 2 showed that mortality was independently associated with a long duration of CPR after cardiac arrest in children.
