Zusammenfassung: | Research on fluvial-based processes has gained attention in recent years. Published work on fluvial geomorphology in 2000 and the first half of 2001 is reviewed, with emphasis on channel and valley responses to long-term climate change and tectonic activity, and also on intrinsic characteristics and evolution of rivers that help explain gradual processes. Reviews are categorized according to paleofluvial geomorphology, paleoflood hydrology, sediment yield, bed load transport, floodplains, channel patterns and types, vegetation-sediment-geomorphology interactions, human-induced channel change, and fluvial processes affecting river management. A general trend toward more physics-based theories of channel behavior, and efforts to combine computer-based modeling techniques with traditional descriptive/classificatory approaches will provide better information for river management. |
