Photoallergy - musk ambrette

Musk ambrette is a synthetic nitromusk compound, which is largely used in perfumery, cosmetics, toiletries, topical medications, detergents and event in food. During 1982, the authors observed 7 male patients with photoallergy to musk ambrette. The clinical picture was similar in all of them-an erythemato-squamous and pruriginous dermatitis of the beard area and neck, which became worse after sun exposure. All used colognes and lotions which were applied after shaving.
