Zusammenfassung:Highlights • Except for a longer REM latency, long term abuse of benzodiazepines induced only mild alterations of sleep architecture. • A significant depression of slow wave power activity during NREM sleep and a loss of the timedependent decrease of delta power occurred in benzodiazepine abusers. • A marked suppression of the cyclic alternating pattern rate was the main polysomnographic finding in benzodiazepine abusers.
