Interventions to reduce the risk of ovarian and fallopian tube cancer: A European Menopause and Andropause Society Postition Statement

Highlights • Opportunistic bilateral salpingectomy may prevent ovarian cancer. Bilateral salpingectomy should be preferred to tubal ligation, and should be recommended in cases of hysterectomy for benign conditions. • Combined but not progestogen-only contraceptive medication reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. • Being overweight or obese increases the risk of ovarian cancer. There is no evidence that any particular diet reduces the risk of ovarian cancer.
