Solid sensory polymer kit for the easy and rapid determination of the concentration of water in organic solvents and ambient humidity
Fluorogenic sensory polymer strips have been developed to detect and quantify small amounts of water in organic solvents easily, rapidly and inexpensively. The limit of detection is 7×10−4% in acetone, 4×10−3% in THF, and 3×10−4% in toluene. Additionally, the relative humidity in air can be measured...

Zusammenfassung: | Fluorogenic sensory polymer strips have been developed to detect and quantify small amounts of water in organic solvents easily, rapidly and inexpensively. The limit of detection is 7×10−4% in acetone, 4×10−3% in THF, and 3×10−4% in toluene. Additionally, the relative humidity in air can be measured between 20% and 100%.
•We have prepared a fluorogenic sensory polymer for the detection and quantification of water.•Fluorogenic sensory polymer strips have been prepared from polymer films.•The strips permit the easy and rapid quantification of the water content of organic solvents.•The sensory strips permit the easy and rapid determination of the humidity in air.
We have prepared a solid sensory polymer kit to detect and quantify the water in organic solvents, as well as the ambient humidity; these determinations are cheap, easy and rapid with our new material. The limit of detection of water is 7×10−4% in acetone, 4×10−3% in THF, and 3×10−4% in toluene. Additionally, the relative humidity in air can be measured between 20% and 100%. |
