Stenelmis canaliculata (Gyllenhal) (Coleoptera, Elmidae) in Norway

The river beetle Stenelmis canaliculata was in 1999 recorded in the river Enningdalselva in Oestfold county, SE Norway. This is the first record of the species in Norway. Two females were caught in the river 200 m downstream Lake Kirkevannet (37 m a.s.l.). The locality has quite strong current velocity, and the bottom is covered by gravel and stones of variable size. Some hydrographic parameters: pH 6.7, conductivity 6.8 mS/m, Ca super(2+) 3.6 mg/L, Mg super(2+) 1.3 mg/L and total alkalinity 96 mekv/L.
