Zusammenfassung: | During 1994-99, 234 beaver were trapped and relocated to 14 areas throughout Wyoming to improve riparian habitat and create natural wetlands. Animal movement and release success was gauged by use of radio transmitters attached to 114 beaver. Mortality and emigration accounted for the loss of 30 and 15%, respectively, of telemetered animals within six months of release. The greatest losses were recorded for animals less than 2 yr old. The beavers became established at 13 of the 14 release sites and they eventually reproduced. |
