Zusammenfassung:In this paper the antibacterial properties of the group of titanium dioxide photocatalysts modified with glucose are presented. TiO2/glucose samples were calcined at 200–800°C. It was found that the antibacterial activity under artificial solar light depends mainly on the carbon content in studied materials. It should be noted that presence of carbon in tested samples caused the enhancement of the antibacterial activity in comparison with non-carbon containing samples. Thus, using carbon for TiO2 modification is highly desirable. The best results were found for TiO2-G-400 and TiO2-G-600 samples with total reduction of bacteria number after 15min of irradiation with artificial solar light. •The TiO2/glucose nanomaterials were synthesized by hydrothermal method and calcination.•Modification with glucose improved antibacterial activity under artificial solar light.•Antimicrobial properties strongly depends on the carbon content in the prepared materials.
