Zusammenfassung:Highlights • This study aimed to study the effect of functional status on short-term outcome after adult spinal deformity surgery (ASD). • Outcomes were compared between 1177 independent and 70 dependent patients. • The major complication rate was 17.1% and 9.2% for dependent and independent patients, respectively. • On multivariate analysis, dependent functional status significantly increased the risk of major complications.
