Zusammenfassung:A low profile printed antenna with defected ground structure (DGS) is presented in this work. Initially a square patch radiating element is constructed on one side of the substrate and the other end of the substrate is etched with serrated shape DGS. Three different iterations are examined in this work by changing the number of serrated edges on the ground plane. To improve the gain of the designed antenna models a frequency selective surface is placed beneath the antenna structure as a reflecting surface. The overall performance characteristics of the proposed antenna models are simulated using commercial electromagnetic tool HFSS. Optimized proposed antenna model is fabricated on FR4 substrate and measured results are compared with simulation results for validation.
