Zusammenfassung:Highlights • Antibacterial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) and calcium hydroxide therapy as auxiliary adjunct methods for common endodontic retreatments displays disinfectant properties. • Efficacy against E.faecalis is better in LED photodynamic therapy compared to calcium hydroxide therapy. • APDT is capable of disinfecting the canals in a single visit root canal treatment. This results in a fewer number of visits and less chair time. • Advantages of aPDT with LED over lasers include greater effectiveness due to a broader spectrum, ease and safety of use, affordability and less heat production.
