According to a review by Greenblatt and von Moltke, "... on average, weight-normalized clearance of drugs biotransformed mainly by CYP3A is 20% to 30% higher" in young females compared with young males.15-17 For many drugs, these differences in clearance may be statistically significant; however, from the pharmacodynamic perspective, they may be minimally observable in many instances.
