Zusammenfassung:Positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) can be used to assist localization of seizure foci in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. Both should be interpreted in the context of clinical, electrographic, and magnetic resonance imaging data. PET has wider research applications, particularity when used with ligands for neurotransmitter receptors or inflammatory processes.
