Zusammenfassung:Objectives: The purpose of this workshop is to educate CAPs about the mental health care needs of children and adolescents who have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and to offer practical guidelines on providing services that will benefit the home, community, and the school. Methods: The workshop will be run jointly by two CAPs. The first segment will involve a review of research findings related to pediatric TBI and psychiatric disorders. The second segment will consist of the presentation of eight case vignettes covering the common and important psychiatric complications of TBI and discussion of psychiatric and educational interventions. The third segment will be devoted to an audience-driven discussion of common TBI-related clinical issues. Results: Participants will gain a better understanding of how to provide comprehensive mental health care to children and adolescents with TBI through a review of scientific findings and through practical guidance. Conclusions: Attendees will have the potential to influence not only the wellbeing of their own patients, but also their peers and local educational system regarding delivery of services.
