Zusammenfassung: | When in 1974 Simon Jervis published an illustrated compendium of "Printed furniture designs before 1650" under the aegis of the Furniture History Society, his stated aim was to assemble as complete as possible a collection of such prints. But, anticipating that new discoveries would inevitably emerge to enlarge this corpus, he judged it preferable to publish early rather than delay in the service of perfection. The present article proposes several additions to Jervis's compendium, all by 16th-century French printmakers, furniture designers, and cabinet-makers. [Abridged Publication Abstract] |
