Resistin as potential biomarker for chronic periodontitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Highlights • The aim of this systematic review was to determine the level of resistin in individuals with and without chronic periodontitis (CP). • Ten studies included in the present review enlisted eight cross-sectional and two prospective intervention studies. • Chronic periodontitis patients were presented with elevated levels of GCF or serum resistin as compared with periodontally healthy individuals. • Resistin biomarker modulates inflammation in CP and can be used as surrogate measure to identify CP.
