Sae regulator factor impairs the response to photodynamic inactivation mediated by Toluidine blue in Staphylococcus aureus

Highlights • Sae , a virulence regulator of S. aureus protected the bacteria against photoinactivation. • The protective effect of sae was absent in biofilm growing bacteria. • RsbU, mgrA or agr , regulators related to stress response, did not modify the treatment.
