Efficacy of periodic surveillance culture in a neonatal intensive care unit in the presumption of causative pathogens of late-onset bacterial infection

Highlights • We investigated the efficacy of surveillance culture in neonatal bacterial infection. • Surveillance culture was helpful for the presumption of causative pathogen. • Most patients had risk factors for the development of nosocomial bacterial infection. • Targeting screening may be helpful to improve infection control measures. • It also may be enable timely initiation of suitable antimicrobial therapy.
