A comparison of data collected between 1911 and 1937 with those obtained during SAVE (1987–89) and AJAX (1984) expeditions reveals no significant change in the position of the boundary separating Antarctic Bottom Water and North Atlantic Deep Water in the western South Atlantic Ocean.
