Zusammenfassung: | British Library, Zweig MS 168 is an unpublished manuscript attributed by the Library's catalogue to the philosopher John Locke (1632-1704) and described as an epitaph of Rene Descartes (1596-1650). Even if the epitaph's inscriptional capitals had been rendered to resemble their source, the distance between the lettering and Locke's usual capitals is too vast; it would have required a peculiar effort on Locke's part to transcribe the epitaph in this style, something which would be doubly peculiar given that the transcription is inaccurate and lacunose. |
