The type of spawning agent affects the egg composition during out-of-season spawning but not during in-season spawning in Eurasian perch, Perca fluviatilis

Highlights • Hormonal stimulation was reported to affect fatty acid profile of eggs in teleosts. • Two spawning agents were applied at different maturity stages in Eurasian perch. • hCG and lack of hormonal treatment affected eggs fatty acid profile out-of season. • sGnRHa had limited effect on egg fatty acid profile during out-of season spawning. • sGnRHa should be considered in future studies as a spawning agent for Eurasian perch.
