Zusammenfassung:X-ray conventional radiography and digital radiography by fluoroscope had been applied to test nine butt welded joints performed by tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding on 6082-T6 aluminium plates having thicknesses from 10 to 80 mm. The comparison between the quantitative measurements of the image quality parameters of the digitized film radiographs and digital radiographs of the nine weld joints show that; the achieved sensitivity and the resolution of the nine digitized film radiographs of the welded joints conform to the requirements of the BS EN 14096-1&2, BS EN ISO 5579 and BS EN ISO 17636-1&2, class SA testing, while, five digital radiographs of the welded joints having thicknesses up to 40 mm, achieve the sensitivity and the resolution required by the BS EN 13068, BS EN ISO 5579 and BS EN ISO17636-1&2, class SA testing. The results confirm that digital radiography by fluoroscopy is a suitable radiography technique to be applied as an alternative technique to film radiography to detect and measure discontinuities in the 6082-T6 aluminium plate’s welded joints having thicknesses up to 40 mm according to the requirements of the European standards for class A testing.
