Zusammenfassung:The SSC local dimming algorithm has been adapted and applied for 4K edge‐lit LED TVs. The specific objectives are high static contrast ratio, deep black level and large color gamut. The challenges are crosstalk/interaction between LEDs, clipping and Halo artifact and non‐uniformity issues which may arise. With optimized design of LCD modules and new features amended to the SSC algorithm, brilliant images and saturated colors are achieved. The HW‐design of the algorithm is made in Verilog and cost‐efficient. It is versatile and has been proven on an LCD module with 2X8 LED strings at the two short edges and two LCD modules with 24 LED strings or 16 LED strings at the bottom edge.
