Zusammenfassung:Dramatic progress in the performance of light emitting diode (LED) technology has been made in the last 50 years. The invention of the gallium‐nitride‐based blue‐emitting LED in the early 1990s spurred on the solid state lighting revolution. However, today's best performing LEDs still rely on the same basic invention, which has done well for violet/blue emitters, but appears to incur limitations for green and longer wavelength devices.
