We were surprised by the results reported by Saint et al. (June 2 issue)

regarding the lack of success of the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP) in reducing urinary-catheter use and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting. During a similar period, from January 2012 to December 2014, and using strategies very similar to those that the authors detail in Table 1 of their article, we were able to reduce the use of urinary catheters in our medical ICU from 92% to 20%.
