Lack of association between rs10491334 in the CAMK4 gene and longevity in a Chinese population

Genomewide association studies (GWAS) reported that one single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (rs10491334) in the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 4 (CAMK4) gene is associated with human longevity and hypertension, a risk factor for human lifespan, in Europeans. In the present study, we ex...

Zusammenfassung:Genomewide association studies (GWAS) reported that one single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (rs10491334) in the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 4 (CAMK4) gene is associated with human longevity and hypertension, a risk factor for human lifespan, in Europeans. In the present study, we examined the association between rs10491334 and human longevity in a Chinese population and found that the SNP was negatively associated with lifespan in any genetic model studied (codominant, additive, dominant, or recessive). Thus, the ndings suggest that rs10491334 CAMK4 variant could not be a genetic factor or marker for human longevity in Chinese population.
