Zusammenfassung: | Pericardiocentesis with drain placement provides relief of symptomatic pericardial tamponade. The use of a pericardial sheath preserves access to the pericardial space in the event a drain may need to be replaced or manipulated. Although rare, sheath fracture and migration into the pericardial space may be a complication of prolonged sheath maintenance. Prompt action may allow percutaneous retrieval of the foreign body and avoid the need for surgical exploration. We report a case of successful percutaneous retrieval of a fractured pericardial sheath. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. |
