Zusammenfassung: | A description is given of the operational system used by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (DNMI) to monitor and forecast mesoscale weather phenomena. The system uses a combination of conventional observations, data from polar orbiting satellites (this includes cloud images and information about sea‐ice concentrations, sea‐surface temperatures arid surface winds) and output from the Limited Area Model. A case study involving mesoscale developments, which used output from the operational system, is described. |
